Jessie James and the Carter Twins took the stage for the opening night of the Rockin’ the River Concert Series in Uptown Charlotte on Thursday. As the opening show in the five-part series to benefit The Dale Jr. Foundation, the two up-and-coming acts kick-started the series with a variety of music that showcased their debut songs as well as other cover songs to get the crowd going!
In their second appearance at Whisky River, the Carter Twins entertained the crowd with a set list that showcased their wide-ranging musical talent. The twins, Zach and Josh, performed their own hit song “Heart Like Memphis”, as well as other songs from their album that will be released in early 2010. Offering an interesting twist from their typical song choice, the duo performed their own rendition of the Aerosmith classic “Sweet Emotion” that drew rave reviews from the crowd. In another cover song choice, the guys chose to sing “My Maria” by Brooks & Dunn as a tribute to the duo that has ruled the country music world for the last 20 years. Prior to the concert, the twins met their fans for a private party to give fans a chance to ask questions and enjoy dinner with the guys before they hit the stage.
Jessie James took the stage in a night-capping performance that displayed her amazing vocal talent and her sassy side as a performer. Although her petite stature gives the perception of an innocent 21 year-old girl, the vocals she is displayed offered a glimpse of who she is as an artist and as a person. Jessie performed her own songs, like her first hit “Wanted” which hit the radio in April, and other unreleased hits like “Johnny” which was a testament to her childhood growing up with a father in the military. In a song that was truly fitting to her personal character, Jessie performed the Shania Twain hit “Man! I Feel like a Woman” in an entertaining cover performance that had the audience singing and dancing along!
Needless to say, the Rockin’ the River Concert Series is off to a fantastic start! Jessie James and the Carter Twins were engaging opening acts to the series. The Dale Jr. Foundation and Whisky River welcome Rehab on October 8th in the concert series’ second event!
